Man divorces & sues wife for being ugly, wins

Divorces are never pretty, but this one is pretty ugly. A man from northern China divorced and sued his wife for being ugly. He won $120,000 in the lawsuit and has once again made the world question the validity of phrases like “marriage” and “love”.

The northern Chinese man, Jian Feng, married his wife and was reportedly absolutely in love with her. Soon, as will happen, she became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl, which was when the problems arose for Feng.

He thought the baby was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified him. The baby resembled neither of her parents, so Feng demanded to know who the father was, because jumping to conclusions about your wife’s faithfulness is the obvious thing to do when you have an ugly baby.

As it turns out, his wife didn’t cheat, but did gloss over the fact that she had spent $100,000 on intense plastic surgery to severely change how she looked before she met him. It’s the kind of thing that can slip your mind on the first date. After his wife revealed this to him, Feng took the only right-minded course of action and divorced and sued her, claiming that she got him to marry her under false pretences. The false pretence presumably being that she was good looking. Incredibly, the (presumably male) judge sympathised with Feng and he won $120,000 in the case.

It’s usually the victim of court cases that you’re supposed to feel sorry for, but it’s kind of difficult to feel sorry for the man who is angry at his beautiful wife for being ugly at some point in her life. If you’re going to feel sorry for anyone, feel sorry for their child, whom will forever be known as the baby that broke her parent’s marriage – with her face.

    Maybe you haven’t seen many young babies, this baby picture on here is not ugly either. A baby that age can’t control their facial muscles like an adult, and the angle they have the child sitting would make any child have a face similar. Yes the facial expression is somewhat funny but not ugly. The photographer is partly to blame for the pose and timing and turning out to not be flattering picture for that child.

      When my sister in law’s daughter was born, everyone thought she was VERY ugly .. especially her big nose. She was also yellow or “jaundiced” looking. The older she gets, the prettier she gets, and her nose is now in proportion. AT five years old, you can see she will be a looker one day.

Let’s say a woman had married a handsome, charming man who had swept her off her feet with wining, dining, and high society.

After the marriage, she finds out he doesn’t have a great job, he’s not loaded, and in fact she married into $150k of debt she was going to have to live with, diminishing her lifestyle. Sure, she enjoyed the time spent adding to that debt while romancing her, but it was his credit card, not hers…. (until they married)

He’s still the same handsome, charming man…but also a bit irresponsible with money as he wanted to impress the woman he loved.. He presented a false front, and deceived her. (You know, like a woman with plastic surgery). But he’s the same guy inside (ditto) who loved her (like the plastic surgery woman loved her husband).

When a woman divorces the fraudulent man, she’s a helpless victim who was tricked. But when a man is likewise deceived and divorces the woman, he’s a jerk?

I don’t understand this Equality thing. This guy got some equality and he’s being reviled, instead of hailed as a hero/victim who overcame his horrible circumstances.

There’s no indication in this article that it was ordered by the judge; in fact, it claims the woman herself took the initiative. She’s probably not strapped for cash if she can drop 100 grand on plastic surgery.

I find all of this to be extremely disturbing. The fact that looks are the only thing that matters is extremely sickening. That baby was born healthy and who knows how great she’ll be as an individual in the future. In fact there was an earlier comment “well the kid is pretty ugly”, and that is why many people are posting on how opposite that is.     Idk, she lied. That would be like saying, a man can’t divorce and sue his wife for not disclosing that she used to be a he. The baby part is eff’d, but the fact that she got him to marry him under false pretenses is valid. And sure you could say “its personality” but that’s only half of it , we’re still attracted to people’s looks whether we admit it or not.
    In China you can have one girl, and then try again for a boy. If you have a boy the first time, that’s all you get. That one child typically has to support your whole family later on, so maybe he’s pissed his daughter that might have to support his old ass later on is ugly, I mean it is statistically true that attractive people are hired over ugly people.

This is absolutely horrible, one thiny to fall in love with someone for there looks but to call your child ugly and ask for a divorce with a lawsuit is another. Shame on him and the judge the law should have granted his divorce and thats all. This baby will read and know about this forever what type of burden will she have. awww what a cute baby. She is not ugly. And even if she was does anyone remeber the story of the ugly duckling? I hope that she will grow up with high self esteem even if her father thinks she is ugly. This guy is a jack ass and does not deserve the unconditional love a child gives their parents. I feel bad for his wife. She may have been ugly but she could have married someone who truly loved her for her and not for her looks. The joke is on her. I have a huge problem with this merely because if anyone knows anything about the Chinese culture, this has dishonored this child. She will be the ridicule of many. Babies are innocent and he stole that from her. He will never be able to forge a relationship with her ever. Honestly most babies go through a stage and the morph into beautiful human beings. I love would to see her grow up and become a model in her own right without plastic surgery. It would surely be a slap in the face. He didn’t deserve his family. I hope he dies alone in this world. Why are people being emotional ? It’s a cold world, being called ugly shouldn’t be a big deal. The woman knew she was ugly hence the plastic surgery, so why is it the guy is being labelled as mean? When dating someone / marrying them, looks do matter and if he feels he was cheated he has every right to sue her. He had his expectations, just like any of us.

its difficult to think of anyway this won’t be twisted. but the fact remains she did lie. one could argue that its a shallow thing to base so much on ‘looks’. well if character and personality is important, and was to her, why did she hide the bit about the surgical metamorphosis she’d had? the only real victim here is the baby.
