Man receives ransom note for his pink flamingo lawn ornaments

A vicious crime wave has occurred in Mansfield Massachusetts, USA- unknown assailants have been kidnapping 68 year old Arthur O’Neil’s plastic flamingos- from his very own front lawn.

Over 40 flamingo’s have been cruelly taken from his residence since May this year. This has caused serious pain both financially and emotionally for Mr O’Neil, placing a real burden on him. He claims that “people from the neighbourhood would drive by his front yard to look at them”; he would place the flamingos into various positions, varying from graduation to a flamingo golf course.

Mr O’Neil has made several attempts at trying to catch the miscreants, even installing CCTV cameras around the property. But he himself admits that “the police have better things to do” than chase after his flamingo kidnappers. Despite this he has been able to capture several images of the assailants, this could potentially enable him to find them and get his flamingos back.

One flamingo has been returned, only to have a ransom note attached, describing how he has to phone the number if he ever wants to see the rest of his flock ever again. Mr O’Neil is unsure what their demands are, but just hopes that after this national plea the flock will be returned back to him un-harmed and will take it no further.
All in all he believes that this is just a harmless prank pulled by bored young people during the summer months and hopes that they will lose enthusiasm and give up.  All we can hope is that the flamingos are given back so that he can continue to make his creative displays.
